Red Bull Arts and Galerie Camille are pleased to present Becoming Dion (Shea Buttered Baby) {Iteration #3}, a live-streamed performance by Red Bull Arts Detroit Resident Artist Darryl DeAngelo Terrell exploring self-care and self-desire as a form of healing for Femme-identifying, fat, Black, queer folk. A performative transformation where the artist turns into their High Femme Alter Ego named Dion, the piece stems from candid conversations that happen within the domestic spaces of Black queer, and femme people before a night on the town. Becoming Dion is a retelling of stories, singing of songs, and celebration of the acts of care, love and adornment. At the beginning you see Darryl, but at the end you are introduced to Dion.
